The novel sequence La Comédie humaine, which presents a panorama of post-Napoleonic French life, is generally viewed as his magnum opus. Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850), prolific French journalist and author wrote La Comédie Humaine (“The Human Comedy”). Consisting of over ninety short stories, novellas, and novels, they are grouped under the following headings; Scenes de la vie privée (“Scenes from Private Life”), Monument to Balzac Auguste Rodin (1840 -1917) 1898.
